3. The Power of Agreement

Aneel Aranha Season 8 Episode 3

The Power of Agreement isn't about gathering more people to pray the same prayer. It's about heaven's mathematics where two become exponentially more powerful, unity releases unique authority, and corporate intercession accesses what individual prayer cannot.

Have you ever wondered why some prayer meetings feel like they could shake heaven while others feel like everyone's just going through the motions? What if I told you there's a spiritual law that can multiply your prayer power by ten, by a hundred, even by a thousand?

Over the past two weeks, we've discovered where authority in prayer comes from—God's throne—and we've learned that you're seated with Christ above every mountain in your life. We've seen that you can speak directly to mountains in Jesus' name with authority. That's powerful when you're praying alone. But today we're taking it to another level.

Here's what I've discovered: most believers are praying in the same room but not in the same direction. We're together physically but divided spiritually—and we're leaving incredible power on the table because we don't understand the supernatural dynamics of agreement.

Today we're diving into three game-changing truths about agreement in prayer. First, we'll uncover the divine law that multiplies prayer power exponentially. Second, we'll discover what happens to your identity when believers truly unite. And third, we'll explore how to practically activate this corporate authority in your prayer life.

Let me show you why heaven responds differently when believers agree.

PART 1: THE DIVINE LAW OF AGREEMENT

Let's start with a question that most people get wrong: Why did Jesus      promise answered prayer when just TWO people agree? I mean, wouldn't more be better? Wouldn't a thousand people praying be more powerful than two?

Here's the thing—Jesus wasn't talking about addition. He was revealing multiplication.

If you're like most believers, you've been in prayer meetings where everyone's praying their own thing. Sister Sarah's praying about her job, Brother Bill's binding the devil off his finances, someone else is interceding for missions, and you're trying to get a breakthrough for your family. Everyone's sincere, everyone's passionate, but everyone's going different directions!

We've all been there. Ten people in the room, ten different prayers, and we close with "in Jesus' name" thinking we've agreed. But here's the truth—that's not agreement. That's just a bunch of individual prayers happening in the same location. And then we wonder why nothing shifts, why breakthrough doesn't come, why the mountains don't move.

But here's the revelation that changes everything. Listen to what Jesus promised in Matthew 18:19: "Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven."

Did you catch that? Not "might be done." Not "could be done." Jesus said it WILL be done! When two believers on earth agree about ANYTHING they ask for, the Father in heaven guarantees the answer!

The word "agree" here is the Greek word "symphoneo." That's where we get our word "symphony." Think about that—a symphony isn't everyone playing the same note. It's different instruments harmonizing together to create something magnificent, something that none of them could create alone. When you and another believer come into spiritual symphony, heaven has to respond!

Think about the tower of Babel in Genesis 11. Now, these were ungodly people with an ungodly purpose—they wanted to make a name for themselves and reach heaven on their own terms. But listen to what God said about them. Genesis 11:6 records God's own words: "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them."

Wait, what? God Himself said that because they were unified, NOTHING would be impossible for them? These weren't believers. They weren't praying. They were in complete rebellion! Yet their agreement generated so much power that God had to personally intervene to stop them. He confused their languages because their unity made them unstoppable.

Now think about this—if agreement among rebels can produce that kind of power, what happens when the righteous agree in the will of God? What happens when believers who are already seated with Christ in heavenly places come into agreement?

But there's an even more dramatic example. Before Pentecost, the disciples had walked with Jesus for three years. They'd seen Him raise the dead. They'd cast out demons themselves. But after the resurrection, Jesus told them to wait. And Acts 1:14 tells us exactly what they did: "They all joined together constantly in prayer."

The phrase "joined together" is one word in Greek—homothumadon. It means with one passion, one mind, one purpose. They weren't just in the same room; they were in the same spirit. And what happened? The Holy Spirit fell, three thousand got saved in one day, and a handful of ordinary people turned the world upside down!

Here's the paradigm shift you need to get: Agreement isn't about saying the same words—it's about aligning your hearts with the same purpose. It's about spirits synchronized with the same vision. It's about wills surrendered to the same Kingdom agenda.

Leviticus 26:8 reveals the mathematics of this spiritual law for God's people: "Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand." Do the math! When believers walk in obedience and agreement, five people have the power of a hundred, and a hundred have the power of ten thousand! That's not addition—that's exponential multiplication!

Think of it this way—when you pray alone, you're using addition. But when you agree with another believer, you switch to multiplication. Your faith TIMES their faith. Your authority MULTIPLIED by their authority. Your anointing COMPOUNDED with their anointing.

This is why Ecclesiastes 4:12 says, "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." Every person you add to genuine agreement exponentially increases the power!

So the divine law is clear—agreement multiplies authority exponentially. When believers truly unite their faith and focus their hearts on the same target, heaven cannot remain silent.

Now that we understand this law of multiplication, let me show you something even more incredible about WHO you become when believers agree...

PART 2: THE CORPORATE BODY IN CHRIST

Now that we understand that agreement multiplies power, let me show you something that'll blow your mind about what happens to your actual identity when believers come together in agreement.

You see, you're not just individuals who happen to be praying in the same room. When you truly agree, you literally become something else. 1 Corinthians 12:27 puts it this way: "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it."

This means when you and other believers come into agreement, you don't just represent Christ—you actually MANIFEST Christ corporately! Think about what happened through the cross that makes this possible.

Alone, you're a member of the body—maybe you're a hand, maybe you're an eye. But when you come together in agreement, you stop being just individual parts and you BECOME the body. The hand connects to the arm, the arm to the shoulder, and suddenly you're not just parts anymore—you're the living, breathing body of Christ on earth!

Ephesians 2:21-22 reveals this mystery: "In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit."

This isn't poetry or metaphor—this is your actual spiritual reality! When you agree in prayer, you become a spiritual temple where God's presence literally dwells. You create a habitation for the Almighty right there in your living room, in your church, wherever believers agree!

To understand how revolutionary this is, let me paint a picture from history. In the Old Testament, God's presence was confined to one place—the Holy of Holies. Once a year, one man could enter, and if he didn't do everything exactly right, he'd die. That's how rare and precious access to God's manifest presence was.

But here's what Jesus did—He tore the veil! And now, when two or three believers agree in His name, you CREATE a Holy of Holies wherever you are! That conference room becomes a mercy seat. That living room becomes an ark of presence. That prayer closet becomes the throne room of God!

Being united in agreement carries three profound implications. First, it means you have GOVERNMENTAL authority. You're not just making requests; you're making decrees. You're functioning as heaven's embassy on earth.

Second, it means Christ Himself manifests in a unique way. Jesus said in Matthew 18:20, "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." Not "I will be"—present tense—"there I AM!" The same I AM who spoke to Moses from the burning bush shows up when believers agree!

And third—this is crucial—it means you can shake things in both realms. Acts 4:31 says, "After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken." Physical buildings trembled because spiritual authority was released through agreement!

This corporate identity gives you extraordinary access to heaven's resources. Together, you can demand what individuals cannot demand. Together, you can decree what solo prayers cannot establish. Together, you can demolish strongholds that resist individual faith.

Listen to this—Acts 12 tells us Peter was in maximum security prison, chained between two guards, with more guards at the door. He was scheduled for execution the next morning. But verse 5 says something powerful: "So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him."

Notice it doesn't say "some believers were praying." It says "THE CHURCH"—the corporate body rose up in agreement! And what happened? An angel invaded that prison, chains fell off by themselves, iron gates opened automatically, guards went blind to what was happening, and Peter walked out free!

And here's what I need you to understand—this wasn't because of Peter's individual faith. He was asleep! This happened because the corporate body exercised corporate authority, and heaven HAD to respond with angelic intervention.

Your corporate identity in agreement is so powerful that some battles you've been fighting alone for years could be won in a moment if you'd just get some believers to agree with you!

So we understand the law of multiplication. We understand that we become the body of Christ manifesting His presence when we agree. Now let's talk about the practical part—HOW do you actually activate this corporate authority? Because knowing about it isn't enough. You need to know how to use it...

PART 3: ACTIVATING CORPORATE AUTHORITY

So we understand that agreement multiplies power exponentially. We understand that we become the corporate body of Christ with governmental authority. Now let's talk about HOW you actually activate this in your prayer life.

Jesus gave us the model in John 17 when He prayed "that they may be one as we are one... so that the world may believe." Unity isn't the goal—unity is the vehicle for demonstrating Kingdom power!

Jesus made a stunning statement about our corporate authority. He said in Matthew 16:19, "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Notice the plural language throughout—this is corporate authority!

Keys represent authority—when someone gives you their keys, they're granting you access and control. And Jesus hasn't just given you a key; He's given the church the KEYS—plural—to the Kingdom! Some doors require multiple keys turning simultaneously. Some locks need corporate agreement to open.

This isn't just beautiful language—this is spiritual reality with practical application. When you and other believers agree to bind something, heaven backs it up. When you agree to loose something, heaven enforces it. You become heaven's enforcement agency on earth!

In 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat faced three enemy armies coming against him—a coalition that vastly outnumbered Israel. Watch what he did. He didn't just pray by himself in the palace. He called ALL of Judah together—men, women, and even children—to seek the Lord in agreement.

They didn't pray different prayers. They united around one crisis, one need, one cry to God. And God responded: "You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you!"

So Jehoshaphat did something crazy—he put the worship team in front of the army! And as they began to sing and praise in agreement, God set ambushes against their enemies. The three armies turned on each other and destroyed themselves! Corporate agreement literally won a battle without lifting a sword!

Or look at Joshua chapter 6—the walls of Jericho. Those walls were so thick that people had houses built on top of them. They were impregnable. But God didn't say, "Joshua, go pray by yourself until they fall." No! He required corporate agreement from ALL Israel.

For six days, the entire nation marched in unified silence. On the seventh day, when Joshua gave the signal and they all shouted in agreement, those impossible walls crumbled to the ground! One person's shout wouldn't have done it. Even Joshua alone couldn't have brought those walls down. It required corporate agreement releasing corporate authority!

These examples show us something crucial—some mountains in your life will NEVER move through individual prayer, no matter how much faith you have!

And here's something to think about—imagine what happens when this kind of agreement goes beyond just your local church. When believers from different churches, different denominations even, unite in agreement for their city! The power multiplies exponentially! But listen, it starts right where you are. Learn to agree with one or two believers in your own church first. Master this principle locally, and watch God expand it!

But authority comes with conditions. Agreement has requirements. Let me give you four essentials.

First, UNITY OF PURPOSE. Amos 3:3 asks, "Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?" You can't be praying for the mountain to move while your prayer partner is praying for strength to climb it! You've got to align your targets. Get on the same page about what you're asking!

Second, PURE HEARTS. James 4:3 warns, "When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives." If there's hidden sin, selfish agendas, or unforgiveness between you and your prayer partner, it's like trying to complete an electrical circuit with a broken wire. The power can't flow!

Third, PERSISTENCE IN UNITY. Philippians 1:27 calls us to 'stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one.' Listen, the enemy's going to try to divide you. He knows that if he can bring offense, misunderstanding, or distraction between you and your agreement partners, he can reduce you back to individual authority. Don't let him! Lock shields and refuse to break ranks!

Fourth, FAITH-FILLED AGREEMENT. This isn't about wishful thinking or positive vibes. Matthew 18:19 assumes you actually BELIEVE you're going to receive what you're agreeing on! Doubt from one person can neutralize the faith of many. When you agree, BELIEVE that heaven is responding!

Remember—authority is activated, not automatic. You have to exercise it intentionally!

Listen, some of you have been battling the same mountain for years because you've been trying to move it alone. Some of you have been asking God to do what He's already authorized YOU to do—but you need others in agreement to get it done!

It's time to stop fighting alone what requires an army!

CLOSING

Let me bring this all together for you. The authority behind prayer multiplies exponentially when believers agree—two can put ten thousand to flight. Through agreement, you become the corporate body of Christ with governmental authority to bind and loose. And God has given you the keys—plural—to activate this multiplied power through strategic, faith-filled agreement.

This means you can stop exhausting yourself in solo prayer battles. Instead, find someone who'll agree with you—really agree, not just be in the same room.

So here's my challenge to you: identify that mountain in your life that won't budge despite years of prayer. Then find one or two believers who will lock shields with you in genuine agreement. Align your hearts, synchronize your faith, and speak to that mountain TOGETHER. Watch what happens when you stop using addition and start using multiplication!

And watch what happens when believers finally understand the power of agreement. Mountains that stood for decades crumble in moments. Breakthrough that seemed impossible becomes inevitable. This is the power of agreement activated!

Next time, we're going to look at "Prayer That Changes Us"—how prayer transforms the one who's praying even before the answer comes.

Until then, stop praying alone—start praying in agreement.
